The International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame recently announced the six new members who will be inducted in January 2009.
Joining the ranks of famous divers such as Jacques-Yves Cousteau, Gustav Dalla Valle, Sylvia A. Earle, and Bob Soto will be:
Kimiuo Aisek, an important historical contributor; Howard Rosenstein, an avid photographer turned manufacturer; Larry Smith, the ‘World’s Greatest Divemaster’; the Williamson Brothers, who filmed the first underwater movie; and Geri Murphy, a well-published female underwater photo-journalist who named Stingray City in the first story ever written about this now world famous dive site in the Cayman Islands.
These pioneers, artists and entrepreneurs will be formally inducted for their outstanding contributions to the sport on 29 January next year.
The Department of Tourism has also worked in conjunction with ISDHF to develop a virtual museum to display select rare artefacts.
