Pirates parade tops 30 entries

Good response, says chairman

The Pirates Week float parade
Saturday afternoon, 13 November, will features 31 entries, including all five
districts of Grand Cayman, plus corporate floats.

Dawn Manderson, chairman of the
float parade committee, said entries were confirmed at a final meeting
Wednesday evening.

Participants include a marching
band, three steel pan bands, Miss Cayman and other beauty queens, Mister
Cayman, motorcycles and a robot, she reported.

“We’ve also had good corporate
response,” Ms Manderson said, citing Jacques Scott, A.L. Thompson and Cayman
Airways as businesses that are entering floats.

She noted there had been comments
last year about not enough music in the parade. “We’ve got a lot of music this
year. I think it’s going to be great,” Ms Manderson said.

Street along Harbour Drive. The parade then turns right on Fort Street and
right again on Edward Street, going out on Elgin Avenue.
