Young Caymanians recognised at CISPA gala for achievement

The Cayman Islands Society of
Professional Accountants hosted its third annual gala last month to acknowledge
the achievements of young Caymanian students in the field of accounting.

The black-tie event was held at the
Ritz-Carlton in the Grand Cayman Ballroom for over 300 accounting professionals
and supporters. Krys & Associates sponsored a champagne reception preceding
the three-course dinner. In addition to the Governor Duncan Taylor, representatives
from government and leaders in the financial services industry were in
attendance, including Don Seymour, CPA and president of dms Organisation, who
was the keynote speaker for the evening.

Fifteen students received an award
from CISPA President Norm McGregor in recognition of their graduation from one
of Cayman’s two higher education institutions, UCCI and ICCI, with a bachelor’s
degree in accounting. A further nine individuals were presented by their
mentors with an award and a small gift for earning their professional
accounting designations this year.

“We were very pleased this year to
recognise the accomplishments of 24 young Caymanians who recently obtained
either their accounting degrees or professional designations,” Mr. McGregor
said. “The furtherance of the study of accountancy is one of CISPA’s main
objectives, and so it’s very rewarding for CISPA to be able to celebrate the
achievements of these young people. CISPA’s liaison officers and the Membership
Development Committee went to great lengths to organise the evening and based
on the feedback we’ve received it was a resounding success.”

CISPA is a not-for-profit
organisation with over 900 members, whose goal is to promote and further the
accounting profession in the Cayman Islands.
