These losers are big winners

Sports Supply recently honoured its biggest weight shedders.

The store attracted more than 100 contestants in its two-month Biggest Loser weight loss contest.

Competitors were required to sign-up at Sports Supply and commit to a healthier lifestyle. Those who lost the highest percentage of weight were deemed the winners.

Store officials said the event was held in an effort to boost healthier living. They said that they were keen to help people keep in shape over the summer months by giving them a more fit body to work with.

The winning contestants received shopping sprees at Sports Supply.

First place went to Richard Bulbring, who won CI$1,000. He lost 31lbs and 15.2 per cent of body fat. Second place went to Michael Stuart Jones, who won CI$500. He lost 34lbs and 15 per cent body fat. Third place went to Bridgette Morrison, who won CI$250. She lost 26.2lbs and 13.7 per cent body fat.

Most of the contestants made drastic changes in their lives to lose the weight. However, as Mr. Bulbring can attest, some did nothing to lose the weight.

‘I really didn’t do anything special. The biggest change I made was I did a lot of running.

‘[Other than that] I made sure I ate three meals a day and had no snacks.’

Store Manager Keith Mandish said the event was successful and there are plans to make the competition an annual event. He said thousands of pounds were lost collectively and the way people changed was outstanding.
