LA launches public website

The Legislative Assembly website was launched for the public on Monday.

Speaker of the House Edna Moyle told Members of the Legislative about the website during the Sitting on Monday.

‘It gives me great pleasure to announce that the site will be officially launched and made available to the public today at www.legislativeassembly.ky,’ she said.

The website has been available to Members of the Legislative Assembly only since 16 August.

Mrs. Moyle said the website provided easy access to a variety of House documents, including Parliamentary Questions, Motions, Bills and Official Hansard Reports. In addition, the website contains archival information, such as Parliamentary Questions asked by category since 1997; Bills considered by the House from 1990 to 2006; and Government and Private Members’ Motions moved from 1990 to 2006.

‘I extend an invitation to all Members of this honourable House and the public to visit our website and put to good use the enormous amount of information contained therein,’ Mrs. Moyle said.

The Hansard Reports posted on the website go back only to 1994, but Mrs. Moyle later said outside of the House chamber that there was a plan to post older Hansard Reports.

The website also posts the order of business for the day, as well as Draft Bills that are out for discussion.

In addition, the website includes a page that details the history of the Cayman Islands Legislative Assembly and a photo gallery.
