Derecha McLaughlin has been selected as the recipient of the Citco Fund Services (Cayman Islands) Limited 2007 Academic Scholarship Award.
Ms McLaughlin was selected from a pool of candidates who applied this year for the US$25,000 per annum scholarship, states a press release.
This award will assist Derecha in her pursuit of a post-baccalaureate degree in finance from the University of Tampa.
Derecha has been a member of the CFS staff during the past two and a half years on its Investor Relations Team.
Derecha had been promoted to the post of senior investor relations administrator during her tenure with CFS.
She will be rejoining Citco during her Christmas and summer holiday breaks from the University of Tampa.
‘As Derecha has already proven herself capable both professionally during her first two years with us and academically, having already earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Tampa for studies in another field, we have every confidence in her continued success and we are delighted to be able to provide Derecha with this scholarship award,’ said Managing Director of Citco’s Cayman Islands office Patrick Agemian:
Another scholarship recipient, Mr. Christoph Barnett, has graduated from the London School of Economics where he earned a Master’s in Accounting and Finance.
Christoph was also the CFS scholarship recipient in 2003 and received support during his pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Music Performance, from the Florida Southern College, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Christoph has worked with the company during his Christmas and summer breaks since being chosen to receive the scholarship.
Christoph rejoined the Cayman Islands Office of Citco Fund Services as a fund accountant in August.
