Put efforts in real issues

Isn’t it funny how so many people are able to take time off of work to picket or protest against a homosexual cruise ship yet find it almost impossible to attend a 45 minute PTA meeting or counselling service?

With an ever-growing rate of domestic abuse, drug related issues and teenage pregnancies; shouldn’t all of this (pointless) effort be focused on something that Caymanian parents can do to make a difference in their children’s life?

Not too far back there was a headline in the paper in regards to the Bloods and Crips gangs in our public high schools. What action(s) have the parents of these children taken to discipline and correct them? And for the ‘my-kid-knows-better’ parents – what have you done to help prevent such occurrences in your own child’s life? I do hope you’ve been doing your utmost best.

As a recent high school graduate and a freshman at UCCI, I know over 10 unmarried teenage parents. It’s sad to think that my brilliant peers and I had been provided with excellent sex education classes and have been informed of available contraceptives.

But then again, from a Christian’s point of view – isn’t that immoral? Are we not encouraging the youth of the Cayman Islands to take part in fornication?

And in regards to the large amount of substance abusers, alcoholics, and gluttons – are they not immoral too? Doesn’t it clearly say in the Bible that anything done in excess is a sin?

‘Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote of thy brother’s eye.’ Matthew 7:4

But who am I to judge; more so ever, who are you to judge? Remember dear Christians; ‘Judge not, that ye be not judged.’ Matthew7:1
