A magnitude 4.5 earthquake occurred 30 miles east of George Town yesterday morning.
The US Geological Services Earthquake Hazards Program website said the 6.2-mile deep quake occurred at 8.26am.
There were no reports of building damage or injuries.
A 4.5 magnitude earthquake is defined as light and can be described as more of a tremor.
A stronger earthquake, a 6.8 magnitude, occurred near George Town 14 December, 2004.
