Mr. Clifford, in all rights, Sunday Trading has never been acceptable to the real Caymanian people.
It was given as a day of rest, worship and recreation to the hardworking Caymanian.
I know a lot of people look at it as a day partiality for religion.
But for those people who are not Sunday worshipers, they ought to be glad that they have two days to rest and not one.
This is another dollar greed situation. Can you imagine Sunday sidewalk sales, jerk-chicken stands, etc., that would take to the roads with this.
There would be no end to the garbage on the street. I say no to the Sunday trading because it’s only for the sake of greed.
And again, of course, the real Caymanian people would not like to have a chance to participate in this.
Let us not be like other countries. We need to keep some of our heritage clean and not be driven by the cultures of other countries that are now living among us.
Hold on to what we have.
Why do you think they are living among us? They see where they can prosper materially – so do we – both spiritually and materially.
Yes there has to be an exception as has been before, but I trust that you will consider our heritage and let it stay as it is.
