Two new developments welcomed

I would like to publicly commend Mr. Mike Ryan of The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, for introducing such a magnificent hotel to the Cayman Islands.

This hotel will bring a class of clientele that we have never had before and will offer a class of service that the island has not been accustomed to.

I believe that the benefits derived by the people of this island from the Ritz-Carlton hotel will be immeasurable and I look forward to the day to see it fully operational.

I would also like to highly commend the Dart family on the project the Caymana Bay project. I have always said and continue to say that when the Dart project is completed, it will be the envy of the entire Caribbean.

This island is so fortunate to have two projects, such as already mentioned, yet some of our people have been against them all the way through. I am sure many islands in the Caribbean would love to boast of two projects such as these.

We need to remember that the business world of which we are a part of is constantly forging ahead, and if we take a different view, we will be left behind with nothing for our grandchildren, our great grandchildren and the future generations.

Some of our supposedly smart people often ask the question, who are we developing for? If we look around the island, we will see the many palatial homes that are owned by some of our people, the many flourishing businesses that are owned by our people; that is the answer to whom we are developing for.

I think much credit should be given to McKeeva Bush and his Government for encouraging such fine projects and I hope there are many more to come.

I also give thanks to Mr. Bush for bringing the cruise ships back in a relatively short time after Hurricane Ivan. I feel sure that the cruise ships saved the economy of this island.
