Cayman captured through camera lens

Cayman p[otographers joined others from across the planet last week to show how we live, work and play through the lens of a camera.

To mark World Photo Day on 1 June, amateurs and professional photographers from around the world took photographs, each selecting one to send to share with everyone around the world.

Participating in this project of celebration were members of the Cayman Photography Club.

The club is open to photographers of all levels, from amateurs to semi-professionals, who meet and discuss topics related to photography.

Most of the members are amateurs wishing to improve their photography skills.

The group participates in field trips, some of which included the Butterfly Farm, Skate Park and the Batabano Festival.

‘Such field trips are enjoyable and add to the learning experience,’ said Photography Club member Martina Nelsan.

To aid motivation, they also hold a monthly photography contest which is judged by professional photographers.

Members have participated in Art @ Governors and Cayfest exhibitions. Some of their photographs have even been exhibited in London.

The group recently established its own Website – www.ciphotoclub.com – for upcoming events.

The group meets every second Tuesday of the month at the South Sound Park at 7.30pm.

‘Photographers of all levels are welcome. We especially welcome amateurs to come to meetings and share their ideas with other interested persons,’ Ms Nelsan said.

The next meeting is at South Sound Park,on Tuesday, 14 June at 7.30pm.
