New office space sought for governor

Alternative office accommodation is being sought for the Governor, who is currently working from his home, the Legislative Assembly was told Monday.

Answering a question from Leader of the Opposition McKeeva Bush, Chief Secretary George McCarthy said work was being undertaken to design and build un-enclosed exterior fire escapes at the Glass House as a matter of urgency.

Mr. McCarthy said the Governor was presently working from his home on West Bay Road and that alternative office accommodation was being sought.

Asked if the UK would be paying for that, Mr. McCarthy said the matter was being looked into and he could not say precisely who would bear the cost.
