Katrina hasn’t stopped CI cruises, airlines

The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in the storm-ravaged Gulf Coast does not seem to be affecting the cruise or airline schedules in Cayman.

There have been no changes to the Port Authority’s cruise ship schedule said Port Facility Security Officer Joseph Woods.

One ship, the Carnival Conquest that operates out of New Orleans, is on dry dock in the Bahamas currently and when she goes back operating on September 11 she will probably operate from another area, he said.

However, for the most part, the other ships serving Cayman operate out of the state of Florida.

According to the Cayman Islands Airports Authority, there have been no flights to or from Grand Cayman affected by the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, although there had been some disruptions last week when it was hitting Florida.
