Appleby Spurling Hunter names scholar

The partners at Appleby Spurling Hunter have announced that this year’s scholarship has been awarded to Liesl Richter.

Liesl, who has just successfully completed her secondary level studies at Trinity College School in Ontario, Canada, will commence her studies in pursuit of a law degree at the University of Exeter School of Law in Britain this month, states a press release.

Appleby Spurling Hunter has been awarding scholarships and bursaries to Caymanian applicants since 1977. Managing Partner, Huw Moses, commented ‘Appleby is committed to providing educational opportunities for young Caymanians who are interested in pursuing a career in law. Liesl is a welcome addition to the group of many scholarship recipients that have come before her and we wish her every success in her studies.’

This scholarship award amounts to approximately US$100,000, over the duration of the degree and the professional practice courses. The award provides for tuition fees, exam fees, a stipend to assist with living expenses, as well as the cost of the necessary textbooks.

A summer work experience programme is also a component of the scholarship award at Appleby. To compliment their studies, award recipients are provided with an invaluable opportunity to work at the firm to gain insight and experience in a professional legal environment, and to develop working relationships with the Partners, Associates and other team members of the firm as they progress through their studies.
