Micro Matrix has announced it will offer a one-day only front page and web design course 20 October.
The course is designed to offer an introduction to web design website publishing, states a press release.
‘A lot of people are interested in web design and would like to have the knowledge and skills to publish their own web pages,’ said Managing Director Sandra Catron.
‘People should no longer feel that having a website of their own is something extraordinary that only corporations and tech geeks should have. Everyone can have their own website for a small business or even a family webpage.’
She further stressed that after Hurricane Ivan many people were able to keep in touch via the internet and web pages.
‘Web pages can be an excellent way to promote a business or even keep family half way around the world in touch.’
The course will be taught by visiting lecturer Mr. Kevin Connelly from Evansville, Indiana. Mr. Connelly has been a frequent visitor to the Cayman Islands for more than 10 years and brings with him a wealth of IT experience and expertise.
‘The internet and web design have come into their own and are easily accessible to anyone now. College students will find it fun and adventurous to design and maintain their own web page. However, this course is also an excellent opportunity for professionals to learn the basics of web design,’ he said.
Mr. Connelly stressed that many people may have their website professionally designed initially but can then learn to make simple changes and update content on their own. Mr. Connelly has extensive knowledge in the many pitfalls that people can avoid when designing their own web sites. Students should show up to the course expecting to produce their own sites. All photos and text should be prepared beforehand so that the students can focus on the design and layout of the web page.
There is no age limit to the course.
However, a basic understanding of word processing and PC’s is a prerequisite.
Registration forms can be obtained through Micro Matrix’s web site at www.micro-matrix.net or by calling 743-4600 or the CI Chamber at 949-8090.
