McKeeva visits Ritz

Opposition leader McKeeva Bush paid a visit to the Ritz-Carlton on Thursday to take a look at the progress of the project.

‘Overall I am pleased with what I saw, but there is still a lot of work to be done,’ said Mr. Bush in a press release.

‘They need the entire government’s support and co-operation to see the Ritz-Carlton open for this year’s tourist season,’ he added.

According to the release, Mr. Bush took a one hour tour starting with the boiler rooms and working through all the engineering areas and other facilities normally referred to as the ‘back of the house’ in the hotel business.

‘These are the key first elements that need to be ready for turning a hotel over to its management company,’ said Mr. Bush.

‘I wanted to see where they actually stand as I know there are only a few weeks left before the Ritz-Cartlon takes over the hotel and starts training their employees,’ he added.

Mr. Bush then toured the public areas, spa, reception, restaurant and guest rooms.

‘This is one very big project and I am glad to see it so near to being completed,’ Mr. Bush said in the release.

‘I, like so many Caymanians have waited a long time for the Ritz-Carlton to open and to see it bringing new benefits to our islands,’ he said.

Mr. Bush completed his inspection around the pools and the grounds.
