Supplies donated to schools

Students headed off to school with smiles and supplies following the Radio Cayman Back to School Supplies and Books Drive, which culminated on Saturday, 3 September, at the LIME Galleria store.

As part of the programme, books, backpacks and art supplies were donated at the LIME Galleria and Anderson Square stores over the course of one month and eventually presented to several students from George Town Primary and Truth for Youth, broadcast live.

“We started out last year with just the George Town Primary and have now expanded to include Truth for Youth,” said organiser Paulette Connolly Bailey. “We have had great relationships with those schools over time, especially with George Town Primary. I consider them our adopted primary school,”

Office Supply and Lees Office Products were major donors to the event, which also saw books collected for the schools’ libraries.

Students who received the supplies were chosen by staff at the schools.

Radio Cayman and LIME have pledged to continue this partnership and do the project annually. Mrs. Connolly-Bailey added that she would like to see the programme grow to be able to include more schools.

“We are trying to do what we can but would like to eventually be able to assist all in need,” she said.
