Right to know Week 2011 Special week launched

The Information Commissioner’s Office has launched this year’s Right to Know Week, which runs from 24 September to 2 October.

Organised to coincide with international Right to Know Day on 28 September, the ICO hosts a number of events and activities geared toward promoting access to information rights and educating the public on the Freedom of Information Law.

The theme for this year is “Information is Key”, which ties into how access to information is fundamental to an open, accountable and democratic society.

The week officially started this past Saturday with a visit to the Market at the Grounds. ICO staff were on hand to speak with visitors and answer questions about FOI.

A special service dedicated to Right to Know Week 2011 was held yesterday at Agape Family Worship Centre.

Today, the ICO and the Health Services Authority are hosting a meet-and-greet at the George Town Hospital from 9am to noon. The public is invited to stop by the entrance hall to speak with representatives from both entities.

Government training sessions and media interviews will take place throughout the week.
