Ronald Forbes is making good on plans to inspire Cayman’s youth.
The Olympic hurdler will be making the rounds at local schools over the next two weeks. Forbes spoke to North Side, East End, Bodden Town, Savannah, George Town and Prospect primary this week and caps off his talks with visits to Red Bay primary on Thursday, 29 September and John A Cumber primary on Friday, 30 September.
Forbes, 26, has been on Island two weeks since his last meet in Daegu, South Korea. Before coming home, the North Side native stated he wanted to reach out to local kids and inspire them.
“Community work is something which I love and giving back to the folks who look up to me and for me,” Forbes said. “I really want to go to the Brac for once and speak to the kids and the Island. It’s a shame to say but I’ve never been there.”
Forbes makes his long-awaited journey to Cayman Brac the week of 10-14 October. He is expected to speak at West End, Creek and Spot Bay primary along with the Layman Scott high school.
Last month Forbes competed at the International Association of Athletics Federation World Championships. He would make it to the semi-finals of the mens 110m hurdles and post a personal best time of 13.54 seconds. Forbes will represent Cayman at the 2012 London Olympics.
