The Sunrise Adult Training Centre is inviting the community to help mark the facility’s 25th anniversary.
An open house will be held at the centre from 10am to 1.30pm on Tuesday, 8 November. The facility is located at 181 Powery Road in West Bay.
A Thanksgiving service is scheduled to follow at 10am on Sunday, 13 November, at the Savannah United Church on Astrial Way in Savannah.
Centre staff and clients also will appear on television and radio talk shows during the week.
“We welcome everyone to see just how (the centre) has positively affected the lives of special-needs individuals within our community,” said Shari Smith, director of the Sunrise Adult Training Centre. “There will be food, as well as talent and artwork on display, so come expecting to be entertained.”
Established in 1986, the centre provides opportunities for adults with disabilities. The facility teaches life-skills and pre-vocational courses, as well as offers supervised job placement and recreational and fitness activities.
The centre has 57 participants in either full- or part-time employment.
