The curtain came down on the 20th edition of the Baytaf track and field classic.
Held at the end of May at the University of South Florida, 32 athletes made the trip for the Cayman-based Mustang track club. Leading them to Florida was head coach Tyrone Yen and assistant coach Elroy Allen with managers Deseree Tulloch and Sana Tugman.
At the end of the meet the Mustang track club had amassed 27 medals: 13 gold, eight silver and six bronze. Leading the way was Mikayla McLaughlin with three gold medals in the 100m (13.72s), 200m (27.42s) and the 4x100m.
Dau-Jaughn Murray had double gold in the Bantam boys 100m (14.19s) and 200m (29.05s), Kiara McLaughlin nabbed double gold in the high jump (4.08ft) and the 4x100m with a silver in the midget girls 800m (2.32s). Amarie Bodden claimed double gold in the youth girls high jump (4.08ft) and the long jump (16.02ft). In the open women class, Anissa Owen had gold in the long jump and silver in the shot putt.
Other notable performances came from Jeavhon Jackson, who won gold in the sub–youth boys high jump with a leap of 5ft, came sixth in the 800m (2.33s) and fourth overall in the 400m with a time of 59.2s.
Pearl Morgan had gold in the sub–youth girls high jump (4.06ft) and silver in the long jump (14.02ft) and was a finalist in both the 100m and 200m as well. Anniekay Anderson also got a huge personal best of 27.83s in the sub-midget 200m finals where she placed second behind eventual winner Mikayla and was also a member of the winning midget girls 4x100m relay in a time of 54.77s. Daekalei Tulloch had gold in the bantam girls long jump (12.05ft) and 100m finalist.
