A nutritious cruise will visit Cayman in May 2012.
The annual Low-Carb Cruise sets sail from Galveston on Sunday, 6 May for a week of Western Caribbean cruising that features seminars about nutrition and low-carbohydrate lifestyle, explained organiser Jimmy Moore.
“The 2012 cruise will be the first time we’ve done a seven day cruise and we’ll have three days at sea where we can have our low-carb conference. Past cruises have limited our guest speaker schedule to only six or so speakers. People can expect education, entertainment, and getting to rub elbows with the top low-carb leaders in the entire world. These are the real movers and shakers in the low-carb movement and I’m honoured to have them be a part of this exciting annual event.
“The 2012 Low-Carb Cruise will feature nearly a dozen speakers as well as lots of special guests who will be attending for this high calibre event. It’ll be a nutritional science conference and fun in the sun vacation all wrapped up into one,” said Mr. Moore.
Increasingly popular
The cruises began in 2008 with a total of 19 people on the low-carb cruise and despite the difficult economy they have proved increasingly popular.
“We were concerned that turnout would begin to decline for the Low-Carb Cruises because of the economy. But actually, the exact opposite has happened–we’ve seen tremendous growth in the first four years of our cruise. We [reached] 120 on the 2011 Low-Carb Cruise.
“In 2012, we are expecting 400 to 500 enthusiastic low-carbers to join us from the United States, Canada, the UK and a large contingent from Sweden where low-carb diets are exploding in popularity.”
The group will be in Cayman on Thursday, 10 May. The destination has continued to thrill cruisers, said Mr. Moore.
“Many in our group really enjoy swimming with the stingrays and snorkelling. Captain Marvin’s took good care of us in 2011 when we did this along with trips to Hell, the Turtle Farm and the rum cake factory.
“Good times were had by all and we will definitely do that again.”
