New cruise from Mexico to Cayman

A new route beginning in Yucatan, Mexico will begin on Saturday, 2 July.

The 272-capacity Tropicana Adriana sets sail from Puerto Progreso, Yucatan, and will call at Havana, Trinidad (Cuba) and Cayman on a seven-night cruise. The company also offers a 12-night cruise calling at Santiago and Cayo Saetia.

Tropicana, based in London, purchased the Adriana from a firm in France. Initially it was home ported in Havana and ran routes to Cayo Saetia, Santiago de Cuba, Trinidad and Nueva Girona plus Ocho Rios. The Adriana will now be home ported in Puerto Progreso.

It is anticipated that the cruises will be marketed in Germany, Spain, UK and Russia. Weeks will alternate between English-language, Russian-speaking, Spanish-speaking and German-speaking itineraries to cater for all markets.

  1. It sounds great, but I don’t believe it will go over. I don’t think the customer base will materialize…. too costly to fly to Yucatan from distant countries and not enough tourists available nearby. Of course I could be wrong….. sometimes I am!
