Update: Police have named the woman who died while snorkelling off Seven Mile Beach on Tuesday as Zofia Prather of California, USA.
Original story: A 75-year-old woman died Tuesday morning after getting into difficulties in the water at Seven Mile Beach.
Police said the woman, who was a visitor, had been snorkelling near Royal Palms around 10:20am when she got into trouble.
She was assisted to shore by members of the public before being transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police did not release the woman’s identity or nationality.

This was Cayman’s ninth water-related death this year.
