Carey Olsen Cayman adds to trusts and private wealth team

Offshore law firm Carey Olsen has added counsel Chris Duncan to its trusts and private wealth practice in the Cayman Islands.

Duncan has seven years’ experience as offshore lawyer in the litigation and international trusts and private client practice teams at Mourant in Guernsey.

His experience includes a background in commercial litigation, where he has acted on a range of financial services litigation, regulatory matters and investigations centred on the exchange of tax information.

Paradigm Governance expands fiduciary team

Jessica Lopez has joined Paradigm from KPMG Cayman Islands where she worked on some of the island’s largest enterprise companies as well as captive audits.

Prior to her audit work at KPMG, she performed a finance and operations role at reinsurer Greenlight Re.

Paradigm Governance Partners Limited, which offers independent director services, distressed fund and value recovery services, and outsourced accounting services, was formed in Cayman in 2017 and has six staff.

Lopez earned a bachelor of science in business administration with a major in accounting from the University College of the Cayman Islands, and is working toward her Certified Public Accountant designation.

Crestbridge appoints new fund services head

Michael Johnson

Crestbridge has named Michael Johnson as group head of fund services. He joins Crestbridge with more than 17 years’ experience in international financial services from Intertrust, where he was head of fund services in the Channel Islands and instrumental in developing the firm’s fund strategy.

He will be responsible for continuing to grow and evolve Crestbridge’s overall funds proposition, supporting managers operating across asset classes, including private equity, real estate, debt and credit funds, and helping them to navigate the regulatory environments in multiple jurisdictions.

Johnson, the vice chair of the Jersey Funds Association, replaces Michael Newton, who has taken on the newly created role of head of client delivery.

In this new role, Newton will oversee client delivery and operations for Crestbridge’s fund, real estate and corporate services teams.
