Rutty appears at Panam Sports Awards

The first Panam Sports Awards in history wrapped up earlier this month. The award ceremony saw Olympians and world champions from various sporting backgrounds attend, but the spotlight was on the athletes who competed at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

Cayman gymnast Raegan Rutty was not only the youngest athlete on the Cayman Islands team, she was also the only gymnast competing at the Pan American Games and the only one who received an invitation to attend the first Panam Sports Awards in Florida.

“Being selected to represent the Cayman Islands amongst the greatest athletes from the Pan American region has been one of the highlights of my entire career,” said Rutty. “It was incredible to look around and see all the fellow athletes and knowing that these are the best, and being grouped with that was a huge honour. Being able to represent Cayman at such a grand event and ceremony was incredible, and knowing all the work and effort that has gone into it is rewarding.”
