It’s official – the Cayman community is really digging the Heineken Happy Hour, featuring local musicians playing live every Wednesday and Friday at 5pm on the Cayman Compass Facebook page.
So far, the likes of Olujimi La Pierre, Michael Lemay, DannyLoops, Beneil Miller, Eden Hurlston and Sea N’ B have rocked the microphone. This week, Kate and Melody Allenger take their turn on stage on Wednesday and the Gary Ebanks Jeff Japal Duo performs on Friday.
This initiative, sponsored by Heineken and Compass Media, is designed to entertain those sheltering at home, while giving musicians a chance to flex their artistic muscles and earn some money at the same time. Heineken pays $100 for each act and those watching are encouraged to tip through www.eventpro.ky.
Kate and Melody Allenger
This mother-and-daughter duo will be playing the violin and guitar with vocals. Kate Allenger is a much-revered violinist on the island, playing solo for weddings or with her band Trinity for private parties and corporate events.
Melody has performed in numerous local productions at the Prospect Playhouse Theatre, including ‘Grease’ and ‘Into The Woods’.
Gary Ebanks Jeff Japal Duo
These men need no introduction. Ebanks is a local musical legend when it comes to playing the saxophone. He is famous for playing at jazz festivals and leading the musical group Intransit.
Japal has played with iconic band The Tradewinds, as well as Heat, Intransit, Hi Tide and Local Motion.
Tune into www.facebook.com/caycompass at 5pm on Wednesday and Friday for the Heineken Happy Hour and support local music.
