The Cayman Islands Marketing Professionals Association is accepting applications for its annual $5,000 scholarship.
The merit-based scholarship is open to Cayman Islands residents between the ages of 16 to 25 who are currently enrolled in an accredited local or online educational institution, with a genuine interest in pursuing a career in marketing or other related field, according to a press release from the association.
CIMPA Chair Julian Foster said, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s scholarship deadline has been extended to provide greater flexibility for applicants.
“The inaugural CIMPA Scholarship received strong interest from up-and-coming marketers and we were impressed by the calibre of local talent,” Foster said in the release. “We want to continue to support local marketing students through our scholarship during this time.”
The 2019 CIMPA scholarship recipient was Maia Thompson, who is pursuing a degree in Communications at the University of Colorado Boulder after graduating from Cayman International School.
“The CIMPA scholarship was especially helpful with the additional expenses that come with the relocation and set up in a new environment. As a result, I could focus less on finances and more on enjoying my studies and the new experiences that come with moving to somewhere different,” Thompson said.
The 2020 CIMPA Scholarship application period opened in late April and closes 12 June. The process is anonymous and applications are evaluated for academic standing, the strength of their personal statement and responses to short-answer questions, the release stated.
