The details, which were first posted on Health Minister Sabrina Turner’s Facebook page add that Chief Nursing Officer Dr. Hazel Brown reported 688 total tests have been recorded since yesterday’s update.
Brown, in her report, acknowledged Cayman now has an “established” community spread of the virus, but stated “as of this morning the last [hospital] admission was on 8 Sept.”
She reported that inpatient, who had been vaccinated, “continues to improve”.
“All the children are doing well, with most of the current cases being asymptomatic. We continue to appeal to the public to take the vaccine if you are able to do so. However, vaccinated or not, please take all measures to protect yourself and our community – wear a mask, sanitise your hands and practise physical distancing when interacting outside of your family and household,” Brown said.
Meanwhile, 73% (51,759 people) of Cayman’s total estimated population of 71,106 have been fully vaccinated, and 78% (55,200 people) have received at least one dose.
Brown said 63 people have also received booster shots.
