The Flowers Sea Swim caps off its 30th annual event

Almost 500 swimmers churned up the water off Seven Mile Beach between The Westin and Coral Beach on Saturday, 11 June, for the 30th annual Flowers Sea Swim.

The one-mile race, which featured swimmers from around the world including Olympic gold medallists Ryan Lochte and Roland Schoeman, began just after 2:30 p.m. For the first time in the 30 year history of the sea swim, there was a tie for first place.

Jake Bailey and Dominic Hilton both finished in 20:45 to tie as the event’s overall winner. They finished ahead of Harper Barrowman who was the first female swimmer, placing third overall, in a time of 20:46.

The Cayman Compass will have more coverage of the 30th annual event in the coming week.
