Almost 500 swimmers churned up the water off Seven Mile Beach between The Westin and Coral Beach on Saturday, 11 June, for the 30th annual Flowers Sea Swim.
The one-mile race, which featured swimmers from around the world including Olympic gold medallists Ryan Lochte and Roland Schoeman, began just after 2:30 p.m. For the first time in the 30 year history of the sea swim, there was a tie for first place.
Jake Bailey and Dominic Hilton both finished in 20:45 to tie as the event’s overall winner. They finished ahead of Harper Barrowman who was the first female swimmer, placing third overall, in a time of 20:46.
