A 50-year-old man, of North Side, appeared in court this week charged with having unlicensed ammunition, after police found shotgun cartridges inside his car.

According to a statement issued by the RCIPS Wednesday, officers had responded to a report of shots fired in the Frank Sound area of North Side, on Saturday, 30 July.

When they arrived at the scene, they found an unoccupied vehicle parked nearby, with what appeared to be a shotgun round visible inside the vehicle, along with a shotgun case and an air rifle.

A man later arrived at the vehicle and identified himself as its owner, police said.

“Police established that the man had a licence for the air rifle, however, he was arrested in relation to a number of shotgun cartridges found inside the car,” the RCIPS said.
