The second day of the Cayman Islands Classic saw teams competing for a chance to make the finals of the basketball tournament, which take place Wednesday.
After winning their respective games on the courts inside the John Gray Gymnasium during day two of the tournament, on Tues 22 Nov., Kansas State and Louisiana State University will face off for the Classic championship title on Wednesday evening.
Coming off of their 77-61 win against Illinois State on Monday, LSU claimed another victory, this time beating Akron 73-58, which secured their place in the finals.
Taking on LSU in the final will be heavy favourites Kansas State, who had a back-and-forth game against Nevada on Tuesday night.
Kansas would eventually win the competitive match 96-87. Nevada’s performance throughout the tournament earned them a spot in the third place play-off.
Western Kentucky bounced back after a tough outing on day one, winning 78-66 against Illinois State. Rhode Island also earned their first win, after they edged out Tulane 78-75.
Schedule for finals
Wednesday’s games will begin at 11am, with Rhode Island vs Illinois State, followed by Tulane vs Western Kentucky at 1:30pm.
Then, at 5pm, Nevada and Akron will play for third and fourth place and the championship clash will close the show at 7:30 pm with Kansas taking on LSU.
