Caymanian Thomas William McLean Sr has been identified as the man killed on Valentine’s Day in a vehicle collision with an off-duty policeman on Cayman Brac.

Police, in a statement Friday afternoon, released the name of the 47-year-old man of Cayman Brac, as they expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased man.

Police said the officer involved in the crash has been discharged from hospital and “is doing well”.

“The matter remains under investigation and there are no further updates at this time,” police said as they responded to Cayman Compass queries Friday via email.

The fatal two-vehicle collision occurred shortly after 1pm on 14 Feb., near the intersection of Polack Drive and Heights Road.

Police said the off-duty police officer, who was the driver of one of the vehicles in the crash, was transported to the Faith Hospital for treatment.

The passenger of the other vehicle was uninjured. However, McLean Sr, the driver in that vehicle, was pronounced dead on scene by medical personnel.

RCIPS accident reconstructionists from the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit in Grand Cayman visited Cayman Brac to assist in the investigation.
