A collision involving two vehicles in Cayman Brac has left one driver dead and the other, an off-duty police officer, in hospital.
The incident marks the first fatal crash of the year.
According to police, the collision took place after 1pm on Tuesday, near the intersection of Polack Drive and Heights Road.
One driver was pronounced dead on the scene by medical personnel; a passenger was reportedly uninjured, the RCIPS reported.
The off-duty officer driving the second vehicle was transported to Faith Hospital for treatment of “what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries”.
RCIPS accident reconstructionists from the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit in Grand Cayman are travelling to Cayman Brac to assist in the investigation, which remains ongoing.
