More than 40 gymnasts from Motions Unlimited in Cayman took part in the 35th Annual Gasparilla Classic Gymnastics competition on 24-26 Feb. at Tropicana Field Stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida.

This was the biggest team Motions Unlimited has sent to the event, with four boys and 39 girls entering the meet.

In all, over 6,500 athletes took part in this Gasparilla competition, which was the largest ever held.

The Cayman contingent was excited to attend as they missed the last two Gasparilla competitions due to COVID travel restrictions.

Motions coaches Kelley Paz, Alison Laidler, Kyle Perry, Miriam Schwabe and Derrick Pascal led the girls’ and boys’ teams on their quest for gold. For their first overseas competition, the level 2 girls team consisted of Brooke Bernstein, Paige Bernstein, Teana Biertumpel, Victoria Bain, Apollonia Sergedis, Leni Kuusela and Alyssa Espinosa – the youngest new members of Motions competitive team.
