Police have located a 15-year-old girl, who was reported missing more than a week ago, and for whom officers had been searching with help of the police helicopter and the Coast Guard.
The teen fled from officers at Seven Mile Public Beach on Monday night when they responded to a report that she and two other teenage girls, who were also reported missing, had been seen on the beach by the old Calico Jack’s site.
Following that sighting of the girl, who ran southward along the beach to get away from the officers, police said, “out of an abundance of caution”, they had launched a search of the land and sea in the area and called out the police helicopter and the Coast Guard to assist.
Those searches continued until today, 15 March, when police said the girl had been “located and returned safely”, and appeared to be in good health.
The RCIPS thanked the public for helping to locate the missing girl.
