Children from schools throughout Cayman paraded through George Town on Saturday afternoon in the return of the annual Junior Batabano festival.
The event, a forerunner to the Batabano carnival on 6 May, included a family fun day outside the old government building, the Glass House, on Elgin Avenue.
Among the schools taking part were Sir John A Cumber Primary, Cayman International School, St. Ignatius, Joanna Clarke Primary, Prospect Primary and Edna Moyle Primary.
During this year’s parade, the theme of which was ‘Ah Hearing Drums’, the hundreds of participants wore an amazing array of costumes, designed by Richard Bartholomew and Shane James, that featured images of drums, such as steelpans, bongos, tambourines and congas.
