George Town man dies in morning collision

One man has died and another has been arrested for causing his death in connection with an early morning collision.

According to the RCIPS, the incident occurred shortly after 6:20am on Tuesday, 25 April, along Walkers Road in the vicinity of Memorial Avenue, after a motorcycle collided with an Isuzu Elf truck.

Police have not named the victim; however, Compass sources identified Kieron Watler as the rider of the motorcycle.

“[A] 28-year-old man of George Town, has succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by the attending doctor at the Cayman Islands Hospital,” said the RCIPS in a brief statement issued this afternoon.

The 53-year-old truck driver, who is from George Town, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. Police say he has since been released on bail.
