UPDATE, 1:30pm, 31 July: Police have confirmed that 15-year-old Shania Beckford, who was reported missing on Saturday, 29 July, has been located and returned home safely. She appears to be in good health, the RCIPS said.

This is the fourth time this year that the girl has been reported missing, prompting a police alert.

RCIPS officers are encouraging Shania to return to her address or attend the nearest police station immediately.

The RCIPS released this photograph of 15-year-old Shania Beckford, who has been reported missing.

She was last seen on the evening of Thursday, 27 July, when she left home, police said.

At the time, she was wearing a grey tank top and grey sweat pants. She is described as being about 4 feet, 9 inches tall, of medium build and brown complexion, with dyed blonde hair.

In a statement issued Sunday night regarding her disappearance, the RCIPS warned that anyone who harbours or conceals a young person, is guilty of an offence and is liable, on conviction, to being fined $2,000 and to imprisonment for three months.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is encouraged to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222 or the M.A.S.H Unit at 649-6000. Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via its confidential tip line at 949-7777, or via its website. Tips can also be submitted anonymously via the Cayman Crime Stoppers website.

    Four times in 7 months! There’s obviously some kind of social problem going on here. We never see reasons for the disappearances. She continues to make fools of the police department and the media. Someone should look into this and consider some type of fine or penalty or this will just keep happening.
