Police-dog death case adjourned to September

K9 Baron died in the police kennels.

There has been a further delay in the trial of Timothy Alexander Munroe, a police constable who has been charged in relation to the death of police dog Baron.

Magistrate Vanessa Allard set a new date for the hearing to continue over three days – 20, 21 and 22 Sept. – after the prosecutor in the case, Hema Soondarsingh, was unable to attend Wednesday as another trial she is involved with carried on for several days longer than anticipated.

Apologising to the defendant for the delay, Allard said it could not be avoided.

Munroe faces a single charge of cruelty to an animal, which he denies.

The trial earlier faced a month-long delay in June after a key witness was off island and could not attend.
