Cayman Islands national squash athletes placed second overall at the 2023 Senior Caribbean Squash Championships, which finished Saturday, 26 Aug.
The overall placement, out of the seven countries which competed, came against the region’s best. Cayman earned a total of nine medals, including gold, over the course of the seven-day tournament.
En route to finishing second overall, behind first-place Guyana and ahead of Barbados, Cayman closed the show at the South Sound Squash Club with an additional three medals during team play.
The Cayman men’s team claimed silver, while the women’s and vets teams both took bronze medals. The team success came on the heels of Cayman’s strong showing earlier in the tournament.
Overall, the Cayman athletes won six medals in their doubles and singles matches – gold in the men’s doubles; silver and bronze in men’s singles; sliver in women’s doubles; bronze in the mixed doubles; and a consolation medal in women’s singles.
