The National Trust for the Cayman Islands has elected nine new members of its council and two officers.

The new members are Fred Burton, Tabitha Crowley, Emily DeCou, Mike Gibbs, Chris Luijten, Arthurlyn Pedley, Laura Powery Egglishaw, Jordan Rivers and Candy Whicker.

Vice-chair Alice Mae Coe and treasurer Dan Peterson, who ran unopposed, were both elected as officers and will be serving a two-year term.

The new council members were announced following a vote count at the trust’s annual general meeting, held on 28 Sept. at the George Town Yacht Club.

The trust’s legal counsel Peter Broadhurst and chair Melanie Carmichael opened the event and welcomed the 60 or so attendees, according to a press release.
