The widower of a woman who died in Cayman in 2020 is suing the private surgeon involved in her care for alleged negligence.
Edmond Junior Hydes is taking action against Dr. Zoltan Szucs on behalf of himself; the estate of his late wife, Jacqueline Antonette Hydes; and her dependents.
A writ of summons, published on the Cayman Islands Judicial Administration website and signed by KSG Attorneys, described in brief the details of the lawsuit.
It said, the plaintiff’s claim is for “damages for injury and loss sustained as a result of the negligence and/or breach of duty”.
This is related to his treatment of Jacqueline Hydes at his clinic and/or Cayman Islands Hospital on or around 23-27 Oct. 2020, it continued.
Edmond Hydes is also seeking to claim interest in accordance with the Judicature Act and costs.
The writ said Szucs must respond within 14 days of the date of issuance, which was on Thursday, 19 Oct. or face court.
Szucs is a general surgeon and specialist in bariatric, weight loss and obesity surgery at The Surgery in George Town.
“We however deny any allegation that there was any aspect of negligence whatsoever in the care given to our patient.”
He declined to provide further details surrounding the death of Jacqueline Hydes.
