Motorists locked in bumper-to-bumper traffic after an accident sent one man to the hospital Saturday afternoon along Bodden Town Road.

The driver in Saturday’s collision on Bodden Town Road has died.

In a brief update on the collision Saturday night, police confirmed the man’s passing as they extended condolences to the family.

No further details on the driver were released.

The single vehicle crash happened shortly before 3:30pm on Saturday.

This was the second serious collision recorded Saturday.

A two-vehicle collision earlier in the day left one driver in critical condition.

In that incident officers said they responded a report of a collision on Shamrock Road, in the vicinity of Grand Harbour early Saturday morning.

One of the drivers in the crash was transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment. He remains in critical condition.

Meanwhile police working on the Bodden Town crash Saturday night say they have finished their investigations and have now turned the scene over to CUC.

A concrete pole was completely broken in the collision and CUC personnel are now undertaking significant repair work, police said.

CUC traffic control officers are directing traffic at the scene.

Motorists are being advised to proceed with caution if travelling in the area.
