A new private high school, which is scheduled to begin operation in September 2025, has been granted planning permission.

The CF School will be built at Buttonwood Park, off the Linford Pierson Highway in George Town, next door to Island Primary School, which opened earlier this year.

The two schools recently signed a deal that will give children attending Island Primary priority for placements in the high school, which is expected to cater to between 150 and 200 students and have 22 staff members.

The Central Planning Authority approved the CF School’s planning permission at its 8 Nov. meeting, the minutes of which were recently published.

The school’s founder, Nicola Sowerby, runs Clever Fish, a small private school on Walkers Road, which first opened in 2016 as an after-school programme, with camps and tutoring, and then began operating as a school in 2020.

The planning board, in the meeting minutes in which its decisions are announced, noted that it had considered the application complied with the Development and Planning Regulations and zoning requirements.

The school site will be 22,336 square feet within Buttonwood Park, a planned community development site, and will include 40 parking spaces.
