RE/MAX Cayman Islands originally was founded by Kim Lund and Brenda Tibbetts Lund and celebrated 20 years of success in the local real estate business in 2011. From the beginning the Owner/Brokers of the company wanted to develop a business that would foster life-long careers for its employees. James Bovell, Owner/Broker since 1998, and Mr. Lund comment:

“Our philosophy has always been to create an environment in which our agents can flourish and thrive, allowing them to achieve their professional and personal goals.”

Edna Ebanks is one of RE/MAX success stories. She was the first agent Kim and Brenda hired and also celebrated her 20th anniversary in 2011. Before joining

RE/MAX she worked for another real estate company as well as the national carrier, Cayman Airways. Asked why she chose RE/MAX and what was it like when she first joined, she says: “I wanted to be part of a serious company that offered job security.

Being part of this new company was exciting. The brokers were keen on providing wonderful surroundings and individual offices for their agents to work with customers and clients on a daily basis.”

She continues:” RE/MAX has grown from one agent to 19 agents and two brokers. The company still strives to provide quality surroundings and keeps abreast of the newest technology and marketing. I am also involved in their volunteer efforts from painting homes for the elderly, to the Stride Cancer Walk, the Earth Day clean up, Hospice Care Flag Day and many more charitable events.”

A big influence on Edna’s career, amongst others, was the late Brenda Tibbetts Lund. She describes Brenda as a strong willed lady who never stopped and always strived for improvement.

Also looking forward to a successful career, and getting there in leaps and bounds, is Sales Associate Michael Joseph. Like Edna, he is deeply rooted in the Cayman Islands community. He grew up here and has also just started his own family with the arrival of baby Alexandro last year.

In 1996 he sailed in the Olympic Games in Atlanta for the Cayman Islands. With a strong sense of community, Michael is dedicating his spare time to local charities like Hospice Care, The Pines Retirement Home, Special Olympics and he is also a member of the Chamber of Commerce Council Board.

Michael joined RE/MAX Cayman Islands in 2003 and was voted the CIREBA Agent of the Year 2011 by his peers. His success doesn’t stop there: he has won many awards with the
RE/MAX International organisation including the prestigious RE/MAX Lifetime Achievement Membership in 2011. In 2010 he ranked second amongst all RE/MAX agents in the Caribbean/Central America Region and 11th Internationally.

Being asked about how RE/MAX and the real estate business has changed over the years, Michael answered: “The RE/MAX family has grown with the demands of the market. We have cutting edge technology and have spread into all sectors of the market.

The local real estate market ebbs and flows on a constant basis and it is a matter of never sitting still. Therefore, you always have to be on your toes and be willing to flex with the industry demands. Technology is consistently on the move and in order to grow you have to keep up in the techy world.”
