In October Palm Heights Athletics ambitiously founded an academy of learning.
With “Coaching Coaches 2023” PHA collaborated with ALTIS to curate the best human-performance learning experience that exists. PHA and ALTIS joined forces to ensure world-leading experts were coupled with the PHA ethos of community and the power of the collective.
The open application process led to 15 successful students gathering on Grand Cayman for the inaugural academy intake – The Class of 2023. Focusing on coaches and trainers who were female/ non-binary and ex professional athletes, Palm Heights sponsored the programme accommodation to make this a truly immersive experience for the participants.
Participants travelled from Poland, USA, UK and Australia to learn from Stuart McMillan, (CEO ALTIS) Dr. John Berardi, Hafsa Kamara, (Olympic athlete), and Dr. Sophia Nimphius in a programme curated by Jennifer O’Reilly, (ex-Nike executive). Over the course of the week, they participated in open learning, (theory and debate), sessions, practical athlete training and cultural programming from Palm Heights.
The result was overwhelmingly successful for participants and for PHA and Grand Cayman in establishing itself as a force within human movement and excellence in sports performance. Class of 2024 information and application process will open shortly. As with 2023, places shall be held for local coaches and trainers from Grand Cayman interested in participating.
