Leve Global, a consultancy firm based in Trinidad and Tobago, will be overseeing the development of Cayman’s National Youth Policy and National Sports Policy over the next several years.
The national policies will provide a framework for local youth and sports programming, while mandating policies for the next five to 10 years, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Sports on Thursday, 11 Jan.
“These policies will provide a strategic outline and the holistic development of youth and sports matters in our community,” Sports Minister Isaac Rankine said in the release.
‘Evolving needs’
The ministry, in the release, noted that it was reviewing the two national policies to ensure its strategies are relevant and in alignment with the evolving needs of the Cayman Islands community.
“We are looking forward to engaging members of our community and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure these policies reflect the diverse needs of our people,” Rankine said.
Auliana Poon, head of Leve Global, said in the release, “We are not here with pre-packaged blueprints. We are here to listen to every stakeholder possible in these policies.”
She added, “Whether they are young people, competitive or non-competitive sportsmen, coaches, youth leaders, parents, leaders, supporters and most importantly, Caymanians who dream of a better tomorrow for the Cayman Islands. Their voices will be the bricks and mortar of these policies.”
Over the next few months, Leve Global will be holding a series of public consultations, which, according to the ministry, will play a key role in the development of the policies.
