McKeeva Bush to stand trial for assault in February

West Bay West MP McKeeva Bush is expected to proceed to trial on 19 Feb., following a brief court appearance on Wednesday, 31 Jan. for a jury selection proceeding.

Bush, a veteran politician, faces two counts of indecent assault and two counts of common assault, all of which he denies.

During the brief Grand Court matter on Wednesday, a jury questionnaire was circulated ahead of a provisional jury selection day of 13 Feb.

Bush was granted bail, and is expected to return to court later this month.

The charges against him stem from an alleged incident on 13 Sept. 2022, during a regional tourism conference which was hosted by the government at The Ritz-Carlton hotel.

Bush was originally expected to proceed to a jury trial on 11 Sept. last year; however, on the eve of the trial, his attorney Dennis Brady applied to have the matter moved to early November – a request which was granted by Justice Cheryll Richards.

Then, the day before the scheduled November trial, the matter was pushed back again, until 19 Feb.
